A federal judge rejected the proposed settlement in the anti-competitive bidding  case involving Gunnison Energy Corp. and SG Interests Ltd where the two companies are alleged to have agreed that only SG Interests would bid on federal leases and then the two would split the acreage.  While the federal authorities involved agreed to the terms of the settlement, the judge held that the settlement did not adequately protect public interest because it did little to dissuade the questionable business practices alleged.
