President Obama has nominated Gina McCarthy to head the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Ernest Moniz to head the Department of Energy.  Gina McCarthy, who currently serves as the assistant administrator for the EPA's Office of Air and Radiation, has served as an environmental adviser to Republican and Democrat governors of Massachusetts, and as the commissioner of Connecticut's Department of Environmental Protection.  Ernest Moniz is a physicist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and had served in the Clinton Administration as associate director of the White House office of science and technology policy, and as undersecretary of energy.
