EPA signed new final National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for particulate matter (PM) changing the annual fine PM standard from 15ug/m3 to 12ug/m3.  Despite reducing the annual fine PM standard, the final rule retained the existing 24 hour PM standard at 35ug/m3.  The final rule will be effective sixty days after the date of publication in the Federal Register.
