Nebraska
Governor Dave Heineman has approved of TransCanada’s proposed route for the
Keystone XL pipeline through Nebraska in a letter to the President and
Secretary of State. Governor Heineman had opposed the Keystone XL’s prior
proposed route through Nebraska because it crossed the Sand Hills region and
overlaid the Ogallala Acquifer. While this demonstrates additional local
support for the Keystone XL pipeline, the final decision will have to come from
the State Department, which hopes to complete its review by the end of March,
2013.
